Sue works for the Diocese of Ely as DAC and Grants Officer in the Church Buildings Department. She works closely with parishes, supporting them through the process of obtaining consent for church buildings repairs and the installation of new facilities, and also assists with grant applications to fund these works.
She holds a joint degree in History and Latin from the University of Hull and a Diploma in History of Art from Birkbeck College, University of London.
Previously, she worked for thirteen years for English Heritage (now Historic England), as a grants case officer and casework manager, assessing funding applications for historic building repairs, before moving to a similar role at the Heritage Lottery Fund, where, as a Senior Grants Officer, she assessed grant applications for all types of heritage projects, and monitored their progress through implementation. More recently, she worked for the Borough Council of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk, where she wrote two successful funding bids to the Heritage Lottery Fund, securing £1m for a townscape project in the historic heart of King’s Lynn and over £800,000 for the Victorian seafront gardens in Hunstanton.
